MEET OUR TEAM

Dedicated professionals drive our success

AYLA

Hello, I am Ayla and since October 2024 I have been part of the amazing team at Wheel of Care. It is a great honour for me to be able to work with this wonderful team in the front line in Brussels.

Before I started working at WOC, I interned in Kuopio (Finland) among other places. Here I lost my heart and this was partly due to the midwife-led care that prevails there (in other words, the midwives are in charge). By being able to immerse myself in this, my self-confidence and independence have received a significant boost.

Midwifery is more than just a profession for me. It is my passion and my life. In my eyes, midwifery is about more than just giving birth. It is about empowerment and enabling women and their families to harness their own strength. I see it as my duty as a midwife to understand when words fall short. It is my role to support and to let go at the right moment. As a midwife, it is important to have enough courage to allow oneself to be touched.

I am an empathetic midwife who places the whole family at the centre and would love to support you in the intimate and tender atmosphere of the birth of your child(ren). I would feel privileged to earn your trust and to be part of your own, unique story.

You can currently come to me for pre and postnatal follow-ups.

CHARLOTTE R.

I am Charlotte and I have been working as a midwife since June 2025.

Before I pursued this profession, I studied philosophy and naturopathy. These studies have nourished my thinking about health, care, and emancipation, and have led me to become a midwife.

During an Erasmus in Quebec, I discovered the autonomous practice of midwives in a birthing house. There, I became acquainted with a holistic and continuous care model, fully tailored to the individual. I brought back seeds from there that I want to let grow further here.

In my work, I place great value on informed consent, shared decision-making, and empowering women and families.

It is with great pride that I join the Wheel of Care team to support you as a midwife in your unique experience of parenthood.

I offer prenatal and postnatal consultations, birth preparation, and aftercare in the event of pregnancy loss. Additionally, you can also come to me for naturopathic consultations.

CHIARA

Hello, I am Chiara, a dedicated Italian midwife with a diverse background and many passions – from dancing and climbing to hiking, running, cycling, and cultural events. I am open to everything!

After years of working in various fields, my values, feminism, and spirituality have ultimately led me to choose the profession of midwifery. It feels like my calling.

I am dedicated to the reproductive and sexual health of women and consider it my mission to enhance the health knowledge of women and communities. That is why I feel so at home with Wheel of Care – my dream team!

In addition to my work as a midwife, I also enjoy teaching pre- and postnatal yoga. Through meditation, relaxation, and breathing techniques, I help find a balance between emotional, mental, physical, and spiritual health. These techniques can make childbirth and recovery much easier.

My work is nourished by the women and families who give me the privilege of being part of such an intimate moment in their lives. I also draw a great deal of inspiration from the midwives who have gone before me and the science that strengthens the profession today. All of this motivates me to continually grow and provide the best possible care.

EMMA

After 10 years of experience in the hospital as a nurse, often under high pressure in the emergency department and intensive care, I felt the need for more human contact and more meaning in my work.

That is why I have chosen to join Wheel of Care. Here I have the space to truly take the time for care, and I am allowed to build a different, warmer relationship with my patients, supported by a dedicated and caring team.

With my start at Wheel of Care, I am taking on two challenges: firstly, learning and applying Dutch, a language I have not worked with enough until now. Secondly, the sporting aspect of cycling, although that worries me less: I love to challenge myself physically!

I am super motivated and happy to be part of an organisation that puts people and the planet at its centre, values that resonate completely with me and that I also want to pass on to my son.

See you soon, I look forward to exploring Brussels by bike and meeting you all!

FLEUR

Moving for love? Of course!

In 2017, I moved from the Netherlands to Brussels. With a diploma in psychiatric nursing and tropical nursing in my pocket, I came to explore Belgium on my Dutch bicycle.

I have worked in hospitals, home care, residential care centres, psychiatry, and the Multiple Sclerosis Clinic.

Wheel of Care is, for me, the crème de la crème. Helping someone with slow personal care and attention when needed is the most beautiful thing there is. People who welcome us into their home situation feel like a privilege.

I combine this with my current role within the Dementia Expertise Centre.

In my free time, I enjoy seeing my family and friends. I love the beauty of new travel destinations, art, and good food.

FLORA

I am a midwife, nurse, and founder of Wheel of Care. After my studies in midwifery in Leuven and Tropical Medicine in Antwerp, I have worked in various places around the world: from Cameroon to Congo, from South America to the USA. Closer to home, I have also gained experience in England, Denmark, and the Sint-Jan Clinic in Brussels, where I worked in areas such as dialysis, obstetrics, intensive care, and palliative care.

With Wheel of Care, I wanted to create care that is truly close: warm, ecological, and tailored to people.

Today, together with Julie and Louise, I am taking on the coordination of this care initiative that is very close to my heart.

Curious about how it all started? Read my story here in the tab: "our story".

GLADYS

As a midwife at Kind & Gezin and involved with Wheel of Care since its inception, I strongly believe in the power of a holistic approach. For me, Wheel of Care is the cradle of future care: person-centred, slow where necessary, and with genuine attention. As a midwife at Child and Family and involved with Wheel of Care since its inception, I strongly believe in the power of a holistic approach. For me, Wheel of Care is the cradle of future care: person-centred, slow where necessary, and with genuine attention.

In my acupuncture sessions, I primarily focus on women: from menstrual issues, endometriosis, and fertility concerns to support during or after pregnancy and menopause. Additionally, I also treat common complaints such as stress, burnout, depression, headaches, and digestive problems.

In addition to individual treatments, I also offer group acupuncture and provide Qi Gong sessions, a gentle yet powerful form of movement that helps to balance your energy (qi).

JOHANA

I am Johana, a sophrologist and musician on a bike in Brussels.

I cycle all year round: it gives me energy, activates my senses, and ensures a reliable arrival time.

I offer sophrology consultations to patients at home and within organisations (hospitals, care homes, businesses, schools, and nurseries). Through a colleague, I discovered Wheel of Care, which I was eager to join. I believe in multidisciplinary care that is tailored to everyone's needs.

With a background in international trade and a passion for music, I later experienced the power of sophrology during the natural birth of my first child.

With 15 years of experience, I am happy to assist you on your path to well-being.

JULIE

I have been following Wheel of Care from the very beginning through social media, until I got the chance to participate in this amazing adventure myself in 2018!

Fascinated by sustainability, the environment, and health, I combined my master's degree in cheese making with a bachelor's in nursing. A particularly memorable experience was the year I worked in a psychiatric hospital in South India. That journey taught me how valuable autonomy, flexibility, and adaptability are in healthcare.

Nowadays, I work as a wound care nurse at the Iris Zuid hospital, and in addition, I am the team coordinator for the nurses at Wheel of Care. I strongly believe in the power of home care: tailored care, with attention to the person in their environment. It provides the space to build a genuine, honest relationship with the patient, and that is, for me, the essence of good care.

If I'm not on my bike, I'm a beekeeper, I enjoy sporting challenges, I spend time with my family, or I explore new places in the world.

LORE

I am Lore Tielemans, an enthusiastic psychologist who has recently also been able to call herself a midwife.

Since September 2025, I have been part of the wonderful team at Wheel of Care and I am so happy to be here.

Before I started working as a midwife, I worked for 7 years as a psychologist in a rehabilitation hospital on the children's ward. Here, I supported children and their families during their rehabilitation process. I learned a great deal here and always did this with a warm heart.

Yet I decided to pursue my other dream of becoming a midwife through a distance learning programme. During my various placements, I began to develop more and more as a midwife, and my values became even more apparent. I want to be an autonomous midwife with plenty of time, patience, and calm. Supporting parents with sufficient restraint and empowering them is my mission. All of this is done with an emphasis on a holistic approach.

The combination of psychology and midwifery is one that I am still very happy with and will certainly come in handy in the future.

The philosophy of "Wheel of care" fits very well with me as a person. Brussels, midwifery, and cycling are three things that largely describe me. Add friends, family, and culture to that, and you have me completely described.

I have lived in Brussels for 7 years and I embrace the city with a lot of love.

At Wheel of Care, you can currently come to me for postnatal care, and I am happy to visit you at home during the first few days after the birth of your "little one".

See you soon !

LOUISE P.

My name is Louise, a nurse and midwife. Since I was 19, I have been supporting women and families, with experience in countries such as Senegal, Finland, Rwanda, and Canada. My focus is on empowering autonomy and guiding free, conscious choices regarding physical, mental, and emotional health.

After my graduation, I worked in a hospital and quickly joined Wheel of Care as a self-employed midwife. I also obtained the Advanced Clinical Practice certificate, which broadens my guidance even further.

In addition, I am a Sensiplan trainer and I support women and couples in natural fertility management using the sympto-thermal method. I offer consultations at Wheel of Care or online.

I am currently taking on the coordination of the team of midwives at Wheel of Care with great pleasure.

LOUISE G.

Hi! I am Louise, a midwife and passionate cyclist (in all weather ;)).

After a few years behind a computer screen in the NGO sector, I dared to leap into the wonderful world of midwifery... with a lot of energy and dedication. I gained my first experience in the maternity ward of a large Brussels hospital. Quite quickly, I decided to work as a self-employed midwife.

I am particularly proud to be part of an inspiring team of midwives at WOC. I am happy to support you and your family in the early stages of parenthood and will do my best to address your questions and needs during this very special time.

You can count on me for pre- and postnatal follow-ups.

SVEN

I love variety in my work life. Since 2021, I have been combining my job in a residential care centre and a psychiatric nursing home with home care at Wheel of Care.

Working in a small, close-knit team where we support each other as equals is a great advantage for me. And what makes it even better is that I cycle through the morning light in Brussels, providing the best care to people from different backgrounds with my full attention. For me, that is the ideal formula.

I also like to seek balance and variety in my personal life. Being active and relaxing, listening to music and going to the theatre, cycling, having a pint with friends or enjoying a nice meal out, discovering new places in Europe by train, but also enjoying a lazy day at home on the sofa.

TERESA

Since 2012, I have been working as a midwife, starting in Chile, and since then I have undertaken various training courses to enrich my professional experience.

Today I am proud not only to be a midwife, but also a doula, holistic guide in perinatology and early childhood, massage therapist, ritual facilitator, and in training to become a sound therapist. This broad expertise enables me to support you with a full range of tools, so that I can provide tailored care that truly meets your needs.

After a long journey of learning and experience, I had the privilege of being part of the special team at Wheel of Care: a group of loving, attentive women who share my life and work philosophy. Values such as kindness, creativity, sport, and a conscious care for our planet connect us.

I am here to guide and support you during this beautiful, often moving journey that you are about to embark on. With my Latin warmth and big smile, I want you to feel safe, that I care for all facets of yourself as a human being, and that together we co-create a path that perfectly fits your wishes and needs.

Thank you for trusting me to guide you through this such an intimate and profound period of your life.

You can count on me for:

  • Prenatal and postnatal support
  • Holistic guidance in perinatology and early childhood
  • Deep relaxation massage and energy restoration
  • Sling massage + sound bath
  • Mama Blessing
  • Postnatal ritual

VANESSA

I am Vanessa, a doula in Brussels.

I am a daughter, a sister, a mother, a friend, a free woman, a creative multipassionate, an optimist, and curious about Life.

As a mother of two children, motherhood has been (and still is) an initiatory journey for me.

After more than 15 years as an architect and project manager in urban development projects, my "matrescence" (the physical, emotional, hormonal, and social transition to motherhood) led me on a personal and professional quest for meaning. It gave me the courage to move towards a life mission that resonates more with the vibration of my heart.

Through my own experiences with pregnancy, home birth, and honoring the postpartum period, I became passionate about the world of perinatal care. I felt called to train as a full-spectrum Doula at the Quantik Doula school (founded by two Canadian midwives). Since 2022, I have embraced the beautiful spectrum of the DOULA profession under the name VANESCENCE.

For me, the bicycle is a great source of freedom, allowing me to travel daily around Brussels, both with my family and for my doula activities. It is with great joy that I have the honor of offering my services within Wheel of Care. I am delighted with the complementary skills of the entire team, which are thus offered to Brussels families.

As a doula, I provide emotional, physical, and logistical support to women and co-parents during the small and large transitions of life, such as welcoming a baby, becoming parents, and creating a new family. I am a little fairy at their service, offering listening, support, care, resources, and the transmission of information so that they can feel fully sovereign in their experience of motherhood.

WIERT.

Hi, I'm Wiert. I grew up in the fertile Flemish endive soil, but after my nursing studies in Leuven, I soon moved to Brussels.

In Brussels, I began my career as a nurse in a pediatric department. Gradually, I got to know the city better, with all its residents and diverse cultures. The immense diversity that Brussels has to offer is its greatest asset and made me fall in love with ma Bruxelles ma belle and its people.

Through various connections, I came into contact with Wheel of Care, a project with values and principles I fully embrace. Slow care is something I wish for every patient and caregiver, and the fact that it all happens by bike just makes it even more enjoyable.

Do you see me biking through the city? Feel free to wave—I'll always wave back!
